All skippers have been there at some time, a little too much astern and bang!
If they were lucky a small scrape or chip out the glassfibre, if not a shattered bathing platform. It used to be quite diffcult
to protect the tulnerbale stern of your boat, not any more.
The photos on the left show two vessels unlucky enough to be damaged. Its not just when your are mooring
but also adverse weather in your absence can cause sufficient surge for your boat to hit the dock causing all
manner of expensive damage, ball fenders hung over the stern do not offer enough protection and have a
tendancy to move and expose vulnerable areas. In some instances insurance companies cannot honour claims for damage
because the vessel was not adequately protected against such damage.
Dock fenders are cheap, rugged and always right where you need them, protecting your vessel. |
