Shorebased courses |
Shorebased courses as their name implies are not out on the water, however, the importance of expanding your knowledge through taking a shorebased course cannot be underestimated. Some of the practical courses require you to have a minimum amount of knowledge or hold certain certificates before taking them. To book a place on any of the courses or to check course availability please contact us. |

GPS Navigation (Non RYA)
![]() |
This is not an RYA (Royal Yachting Association) course, we feel that it is a valuable addition to the shorebased courses that we offer. The reason for having this course is one of the most frequently asked questions that we get asked is "How does GPS work?". GPS (Global Positioning System) is now a part of the sylabus for the Powerboat Level 2 course and is covered in greater depth on the Intermediate and Advanced Powerboat courses. For experienced boaters, new owners of GPS units or people who have'nt the time to take a two day course find it beneficial to take this shorebased course with us. Course includes course plotting with GPS, chart plotters and the limitations of GPS.

CEVNI |
This is the ability to navigate inland waterways of Europe. This does not form so much of a course but an exam that we carry out to ensure that you know the signs marked on inland waterways. The exam is straighforward, a book is available to read in advance then take the exam when you are ready. Completing this exam enables you to have your I.C.C (International Certificate of Competence) endorsed to cover it's use on inland waterways. |
A.A.P Marine Sea School requires that any client under the age of 16 years is accompanied by a parent or guardian when taking any course. |
